Philosophy
Living in Los Angeles, we are constantly compared to the “aesthetic ideal”. What most people don’t know, however, is that this can vary widely from person to person. When non-surgical cosmetic procedures first reached mass audiences, there was a cookie-cutter response to everyone’s desire to look younger: let’s fill up these lines, stop all wrinkling, and get rid of every pigmentation issue. Today, we have more advanced techniques to help soften wrinkles and even out skin tone that is tailored to each individual. What works for one person may not necessarily be the best treatment for another.
My philosophy is to develop a conservative yet comprehensive approach that addresses all the patient’s needs. By working slowly and layering in procedures, the patient can achieve a more natural look. From the 25-year-old who wants to get rid of sun damage from being burned one too many times to the 60-year-old who still wants to look 60 - “just a better-looking 60” - we will come up with a plan that we can work on together.
Biography
Melinda Chan, PA-C, is a nationally board certified physician assistant and is licensed by the California Physician Assistant Committee. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before attending PA school at Midwestern University - Glendale. She graduated in 2005 with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. During her 18 weeks of elective rotations, she concentrated on Cosmetic Dermatology and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She has worked in the aesthetics industry full-time ever since.
Melinda has extensive training in many forms of injectables including Botox, Restylane, Dysport, Juvederm, Radiesse, Perlane, and Prevelle Silk. Her knowledge also spans a wide variety of laser treatments including laser hair removal, IPL photofacials, fractionated resurfacing, vein and pigmentation removal, acne treatments, and radiofrequency procedures for skin tightening. In addition to cosmetic procedures, Melinda is also experienced in skincare for aging, damaged, and acneic skin.
Melinda is a member of the California Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She has also earned and is up-to-date in many certifications in specific lasers and injectables.
